And you celebrated by buying a car that will likely never need repairs during your ownership?

It's the City of Montreal for fuck sakes, if you put in a dozen hours a week you'll be considered an overachiever!
![]() 10/31/2014 at 21:39 |

They did say this to me: ''You can do as much overtime as you want! The money is there so no worries. I bet the shift supervisor will ask you to stay after your shift.''. I go on overtime after 36 hours of work and I get payed 32$/h. Imagine the overtime hourly rate!

Ohhhhh, I know. That's why I said enough paying these stupid fucking taxes, and moved. $7k per year for property taxes? $1k per year school tax? 52% income tax, and ~15% sales tax. I work too hard to give all my money to governments who in turn, encourage more of the same. Best city in the world, if you can live with giving away 80% of your income...

I feel you. If I had the courage to leave, I would go to Alberta. But I don't. I prefer to get my cut from the system for the moment. Still...I get owned by double taxes.

Thanks man!! :D

I moved to Alberta from New-Brunswick in 2006 and I have not regretted it once. Sure I miss my family from time to time but 5% sales tax, $2500/year property tax and ZERO Tax on used cars makes for a decent living.
Alberta where the beer flows like wine.
I'm in the Edmonton area but I think you might find Calgary more to your liking.
![]() 10/31/2014 at 23:05 |

Why is that? More diesel mechanic openings?
![]() 10/31/2014 at 23:31 |

Calgary just an all around cleaner nicer place to be and being 40mins from the mountains is a big bonus too.
There would probably be more diesel mechanic jobs in Edmonton but I can assure you even in Calgary it is not hard to find a job. if you are qualified you will get hired on the spot. here people are begging for good workers probably the opposite of montreal where you are the one begging for a job and not the other way around.

Better yet, move to the U.S. Due to the U.S. dollar strengthening you make 10% more right off the bat. I live in Oregon, so my income tax is about 40% and there's no sales tax on anything. So, I net 22% more, and when I do spend money there's no tax. Take into account that products in the U.S. are much cheaper than Canada and it's pretty obvious my standard of living has vastly improved. A friend of mine explained it to me several years ago: you make more money, and keep more of it. And yeah, I don't have to deal with snow...

Nope!
Of course the large wheels, and all city driving don't help.

I'm on my way! You had me at no snow!
